As climate change continues to impact the world, weather has become more volatile, producing heavier rainfall in some regions. Recognizing the risk this poses to contractors and builders when installing waterstop products, Kryton has launched a new waterstop designed to help.
Known as Krytonite RP, this new blue waterstop has been developed to swell at a slower and less expansive rate than the original Krytonite™ Swelling Waterstop product. That gives Krytonite RP 24 hours’ worth of rain resistance, making it easier for contractors and builders to effectively install the waterstop without worrying about premature swelling during the process. At the same time, Krytonite RP still makes use of the original Krytonite’s proven technology, allowing it to provide construction joints with the same top-quality compression sealing. That way, contractors and builders in wetter regions can enjoy a smooth, hassle-free waterstop installation while also protecting construction joints from water ingress whether they’re under high hydrostatic pressure or not.
With all these benefits, much like the original Krytonite, Krytonite RP also performs better compared to other bentonite, polyvinyl chloride, and non-bentonite waterstops on the market. Testing shows that it swells up to 500% its size in clean water and 400% its size in concrete water, which is higher than what competing products are capable of. It also benefits from the original Krytonite trapezoid shape and unique synthetic rubber technology. These make it so Krytonite RP can minimize voids in the concrete and avoid deterioration over time. All of which makes it the better solution for giving construction joints lifelong waterproofing protection in a heavy rain-resistant package.
