Watch our webinar: Advanced Strategies for Integral Waterproofing Concrete in Modern Building Envelopes - Watch Now

Constructability and cost effectiveness were key concerns for engineers on the above ground tank built in Norwalk, Connecticut. Built indoors to supply water in case of fire emergencies to a large retail mall and a health spa. The water containment tank was built approximately 6 meters (20 feet) high, 9 meters (30 feet) wide and 12 meters (40 feet) long to hold nearly 151,000 liters (40,000 gallons).
The 151,000 liters (40,000 gallons) tank was made watertight by the sole use of KIM in the concrete and the Krystol Waterstop System for all construction joints. Due to the tank being above ground and indoors it has facilitated routine inspections. Since March 1999, the structure shows no water dampness, leaks or seepage of any kind.
