The bridge chamber, situated 3 meters (10 feet) below the water table, was constructed out of high quality concrete. It started to have a problem with alkali reactions due to the aggregate in the concrete, and also had leaking problems. A new 30 centimeter (11.8 inch) slab constructed on the original slab also started leaking.
The Krystol T1 & T2 Waterproofing System was chosen by the Highway Authority of Sweden to waterproof and protect this below grade bridge chamber.
The Krystol T1 & T2 Waterproofing System was applied to the new slab and walls to stop the water penetration. The Krystol Waterproofing Systems have an ability to control the deleterious alkali-aggregate reaction in concrete. The Krystol Systems are also used to prevent the ingress of water-laden contaminents into and through the concrete to permanently waterproof and protect the concrete.
