The Isle of Capri is as a relaxed and prestigious suburb on the Nerang River in Australia. The island features a shopping centre with general store and small cafes. When the team was looking to modernize and bring more amenities to the island, the developer envisioned a shopping center with a full service supermarket, a bakery, florist, health food store, fitness center, and other shops like home wares and jewellery.
As the new shopping centre would be located on a prime waterfront site featuring docks and parking for both water and land access, waterproofing would be a critical consideration.
Originally the specification called for a different product but when the construction team began excavation work and were challenged with the de-watering they looked for another solution. The specifier selected Kryton’s Krystol Internal Membrane (KIM) concrete waterproofing admixture because they felt the product provided a better result, came with a better warranty and also ended up costing less than the specified product.
Twenty-five hundred cubic meters (3270 cubic yards) of KIM was used in the basement, ramps and elevator pits providing solid waterproofing to this prestigious project.
