Kryton International has developed a new cost-effective curing compound, Easy-Cure, which can enhance the strength, durability and water-resistance of freshly finished concrete.
When sprayed on the surface of freshly finished concrete, Easy-Cure forms a self-dissipating coating that slows the rate of water evaporation. This helps concrete achieve full hydration, increasing its strength and minimising the occurrence of drying shrinkage cracks.
Available in five gallon pails or 55 gallon drums, Easy-Cure is easy to apply, safe to handle, has no fumes and is non-flammable. It also comes in clear or white pigmenting, which helps to reduce heat from the sun and assists with the application process.
Easy-Cure is water-based and is a suitable replacement for wet curing in conformance with the American Concrete Institute’s Standard Practice for Curing Concrete (ACI 308) guidelines. It also meets the requirements of the AmericanSociety for Testing and Materials (ASTM C309).
Easy-Cure works hand-in-hand with other Kryton technologysuch as the Krystol Internal Membrane (KIM) waterproofing admixture, a crystalline admixture that waterproofs through the formation of crystals deep within the concrete pores. Easy-Cure helps to decrease the permeability of concrete by decreasing the number of drying shrinkage cracks and retaining the internal water necessary for maximising KIM crystal growth.
Over time, curing effectively pays for itself by increasing the concrete’s durability and lifetime. It is a cost-effective step in the concrete pour because it reduces the need, and stress associated with, repairing cracks and leaks later on.
