Krystol Eliminated Waterproofing Worries in Concrete Construction Joints
When building a concrete structure, extra care must be taken to waterproof construction joints since these areas are most vulnerable to cracks and leakage. Kryton International’s Krystol Waterstop System (KWS) helps builders and contractors save time and money while providing more reliable waterproofing protection than convention joint design systems.
Traditionally, construction joints were sealed using PVC waterstops, bentonite strips or swellable urethane. These physical barriers are difficult and costly to install, how ever and often become dislodged or damaged during concrete pours.
Instead of relying on a physical barrier, KWS uses Krystol, an integral crystalline waterproofing compound. When mixed with or applied to concrete, Krystol creates a chemical reaction that causes crystals to form, sealing the spaces between concrete particles and permanently blocking water penetration from all directions. Krytsol protects steel reinforcements by protecting against waterborne contaminants and, unlike many physical barrier systems, it will not deteriorate over time.
