Vancouver, B.C. – (August 24, 2009) – Kryton International announced today that its concrete waterproofing admixture, KIM-HS, has been appraised by BRANZ. The BRANZ Appraisal 661 (2009) states that Kryton’s integral waterproofing admixture, KIM-HS will contribute to meeting New Zealand Building Code (NZBC) requirements for concrete durability, external moisture and hazardous building materials. The certification came through Kryton’s New Zealand distribution partner, Fraser Brown & Stratmore Ltd.
“We are pleased to achieve a positive appraisal from BRANZ and to have received the right to use this distinction toward furthering our presence in New Zealand,” says Leo Connell, Director of Marketing, Kryton International. “New Zealand is at the leading edge of concrete construction and an important part of the region when it comes to embracing green alternatives for construction. BRANZ technical assessments are highly regarded in the region. We believe that this appraisal will open the door for more high-profile projects throughout New Zealand and the Asia Pacific.”
BRANZ Appraisals are independent assessments of building products, materials, systems or methods of design or construction. Products are assessed for Building Code compliance and fitness for purpose. As well as evaluation and testing, BRANZ assesses technical literature, quality control, installation, service performance and maintenance. These aspects are continually monitored by BRANZ for valid Appraisals.
“Krystol has been a proven technology for over 35 years worldwide,” says Connell. “For new and existing New Zealand customers, the BRANZ Appraisal provides peace of mind indicating that our Krystol products meet NZBC requirements. It also demonstrates our By Your Side commitment to servicing the Asia Pacific region.”
Krystol Internal Membrane (KIM) incorporates Kryton’s proprietary Krystol technology to turn porous concrete into a permanent waterproof barrier, eliminating the need for physical waterproofing membrane systems. The result is a lower cost of construction, reduced construction times and green, sustainable concrete infrastructure.
