Water Treatment Plant's do just as they say; treat the water that goes down our drains before releasing it back into the environment. One of the important purposes is to clear the water we use in our homes of solid, harmful materials. This is the case for the Bukit Beruwang Water Treatment Plant located in Brunei Darussalam. The Bukit Beruwang Plant serves a development of over 1,500 houses on 127 hectares of greenfield land. Thus, the dependency thrust upon this plant can't be overstated whatsoever.

Unfortunately, the aeration tank in the plant sprung water leaks because the external membrane that was installed at the time of construction could not contain the constant pressure of water. The repair job came with its difficulties insofar that the tank couldn't be drained, so fixing from the inside was not an option, which meant it had to be fixed externally.

Solution

BUE Construction was called in to fix the job after many failed attempts from other companies and technologies. Kryton's Krystol Crack Repair System was implemented, using Krystol Plug™ packed into the leaking area, then the Krystol Bari-Cote™ was applied to ensure further protection and then finally sealed permanently with Krystol T1®. BUE had to fix over 50 leaking points on the 100 m (328 ft.) long tank to ensure a watertight seal.

In the end, the structural contractor, WEI Hong Construction, was so delighted that the problem was solved, stating, "It was amazing that we (Kryton) could successfully repair from the exterior of the tank without draining the tank fully." As of writing, the 1,500 that houses the Bukit Beruwang Water Treatment Plant serves are receiving treated water as the plant continues to work as specified after Kryton's Krystol Crack Repair System was installed.
