The Krabbersgat-locks in the Netherlands is the first and only “Naviduct” in the world. This unique mega project, consisting of a ship-lock with an underpass for road traffic, was conceived to ease bottlenecks for both vehicle and sea faring traffic. The massive structure is 125 meters in length and 25 meters wide. 1,450 m3 of earth was removed to accommodate 20,000 m3 of concrete.
The Krystol Concrete Waterproofing System was chosen by the Infrastructure Deptartment of the Dutch Government to waterproof the ship-lock floor.” Replacing the concrete floor was cost prohibitive and surface coating systems would be worn away very quickly,”said Gaby Snijder, Managing Director of Kryton Krystolproof b.v.of the Netherlands.”The Krystol System was determined to be the ideal solution because it is a permanent, cost-effective,in-depth waterproofer, unaffected by surface wear.”
