Kryton International Receives BBA Agrément Certificate
Update May, 2006
After extensive testing and inspection, KIM-HS™ received on Agrement certificate from the British Board of Agrément (BBA). This certificate states that KIM-HS™ provides watertight concrete, enhances concrete durability, and improves protection against corrosion of reinforcing steel.
Recently, the Agrement Certificate has been re-issued, and now states that KIM-HS is suitable for use in potable water applications such as reservoirs, culverts, and other similar structures. To fulfill the requirements of the BBA, KIM-HS was approved by the British Drinking Water Inspectorate (the British equivalent of NSF) to ensure that the product does not contain or produce toxic materials that would make water unsafe for human consumption.

Kryton International’s KIM-HS™ Receives BBA Agrément Certificate
Innovative concrete waterproofing admixture meets or exceeds all U.K. building standards
Vancouver, B.C. – KIM-HS, a unique concrete waterproofing admixture by Kryton International, has received an Agrément Certificate from the British Board of Agrément (BBA), which certifies the product as a permeability-reducing admixture that meets or exceeds construction standards in all U.K. countries.
BBA Agrément Certificates provide authoritative and independent information about the performance of building products. They contain vital data on durability, installation and compliance with building regulations in England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland.
“We are pleased that KIM-HS has received this certification, which we believe will have a significant impact on our sales within the United Kingdom,” said Kari Yuers, President and CEO, Kryton International. “The BBA Certificate of Agrément assures existing and potential customers in the U.K. that KIM-HS will provide durable, dependable waterproofing protection for their concrete construction projects when used according to the manufacturer’s instructions.”
Krystol Internal Membrane – High Strength™ (or KIM-HS) utilizes Kryton’s proprietary Krystol technology to turn porous concrete into a permanent barrier, eliminating the need for physical waterproofing membrane systems. When mixed with concrete, Krystol creates a chemical reaction that causes millions of tiny crystals to grow, filling the spaces between concrete particles and permanently blocking the movement of water and waterborne contaminants. When cracks form in concrete, Krystol reacts with incoming water to grow additional crystals, self-sealing the cracks and eliminating the need for costly repairs.
To achieve the Agrément Certificate, KIM-HS was tested to assess its water permeability, moisture vapour transmission and various other physical properties. A description of the testing, test results and editorial comments by the BBA can be found at www.bbacerts.co.uk.
KIM-HS also recently qualified for European CE marking, signifying that it adheres to all applicable EU directives and meets designated safety and quality standards. To qualify to use the CE mark, Kryton was required to undergo a rigorous assessment, including an in-depth product testing regimen in compliance with the European Standard, EN 934-2:2001, a factory inspection and an audit of the company’s quality control systems by the British Board of Agrément (BBA).
“Krystol is a proven technology that has been used worldwide for more than 30 years,” said Yuers. “However, for importers and customers in Europe who may not have used KIM-HS or Krystol technology in the past, the Agrément Certificate and CE mark provide a clear demonstration that the product will perform as promised, and that it complies with European safety and quality standards.”
