Vancouver, B.C. – (November 26, 2009) – Kryton International has been named among the best companies to work for in British Columbia for the second year in a row.
Vancouver-based Kryton was recognized as the third best BC company under 100 employees and top overall manufacturing company to work for by BCBusiness Magazine and Mindfield Group. Kryton develops, manufactures and markets products designed to waterproof, repair and protect concrete structures. The company was honoured at the “2009 Best Companies to Work For in BC” Awards Gala, which took place last night at The Fairmont Hotel, Vancouver.
“We are so pleased to continue being considered among the best employers in BC, and even improve our ranking from 9th to 3rd place. Being the top manufacturing company to work for is especially gratifying,” says Kari Yuers, CEO of Kryton. “The manufacturing industry is going through some challenging times and this award speaks to the positive culture and passion that our staff bring to Kryton on a daily basis. Our team has come together make Kryton a great place to work and prosper.”
Kryton was founded in 1973 and has grown to be a multi-million dollar company with offices, distribution partners and manufacturing facilities around the globe. It is a family-run business that employs a team of 80 chemists, engineers and marketing staff worldwide.
The top 10 employers in BC are selected based on employees’ opinions. Kryton employees completed the Best Companies to Work for in BC survey in June 2009.
According to one survey answer, Kryton responded to the recent recession with cost-saving measures and immediate and open communication rather than layoffs. The company “called a staff meeting right away, addressed everyone’s concerns and reassured us that although times may be tough we would ride out the storm together.”
Kryton has profit-sharing, a gym and extended benefits, but employees appreciated the company’s compassionate human resources policies and multicultural workforce as reasons for giving the company high marks. Kryton also has a CFO (Chief Fun Officer), to plan group activities that build team camaraderie and sense of belonging.
To be eligible to participate in the competition, companies must have at least 35 regular full- and part-time employees. The competition rates companies with more than 100 and fewer than 100 employees. Strangeloop Networks was named the top employer with under 100 employees while Nurse Next Door Healthcare Services was named the top employer with more than 100 employees.
