(Vancouver, Canada) – The Greater Vancouver Board of Trade appointed its 2019-20 Board of Directors today during its 132nd Annual General Meeting. Kari Yuers, President and CEO of Kryton International, has been appointed to the role of Chair of the organization for the next 12 months.

Kari was elected to the Board of Directors of the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade in 2015 and has served in several positions, most recently as Senior Vice-Chair. Her work with the Board aligns with the values she brings to her role as President and CEO of Kryton International to develop global partnerships, help build infrastructure, and strengthen B.C.’s reputation as business leaders and innovators.
In Kari’s address to the Members at today’s Annual General Meeting, she laid out her priorities for the coming year.
“First, I think it is critical that our region continues to maintain and build upon its competitive advantage,” said Kari. “In an era of technological change and innovation, we need to build off our strengths and ensure we can compete and thrive in an ever-changing world. That means policies that support investment in our region. It means building infrastructure for the needs of tomorrow. And it means attracting, retaining, and training workers with the skills needed to succeed.”
Kari then spoke of the Board’s on-going commitment to facilitate trade.
“In the year to come, the Board of Trade will continue to take an active role in championing Gateway infrastructure, which enables the movement of goods and people throughout our region,” she said. “We will also be strong advocates in helping our Members and the broader business community take advantage of trade deals.”
Finally, she spoke of collaboration and relationship-building to support economic growth.
“Last, but certainly not least, we will focus on building new collaborations in 2019-20,” said Kari. “Some examples include reaching out to burgeoning sectors, like the tech industry, strengthening our existing ties with governments at all levels, and building new relationships with Indigenous communities.”
