Auckland District Health Board Car Park

Auckland District Health Board (ADHB) wanted to improve their hospital facilities for visitors and patients. ADHB proposed a new $12 million USD ($15 million NZD) development that included a sixlevel parking building, shops and cafes.

ADHB contracted Mainzeal for the design and build of the project.

Solution

Mainzeal used Kryton’s Krystol Internal Membrane (KIM) concrete waterproofing admixture in the top floor of the parking structure. The top floor is currently acting as a roof for the parking structure. By using KIM-treated concrete as the roof Mainzeal was able to eliminate the need for an expensive steel roof, save time by not having to apply an external membrane system and allow for easy access to steel connections for the planned extension.

The car park opened in January 2012 providing 400 new much needed parking spaces and there are plans to expand the car park another three to four levels.
