The Blessed Church Kuching had grand plans for a mega church designed to seat up to 5,000 people. The church plans included two levels of parking, a chapel with baptism pool, three stories to house offices, a cafeteria and various other activity spaces all on three and half acres of land.
In order to deliver a building that encompassed innovation, holiness and durability, the project stakeholders collectively chose to waterproof every portion of the below grade areas. For the waterproofing they selected Kryton’s Concrete Waterproofing System.
Kryton’s Krystol Internal Membrane (KIM) waterproofing admixture was used to waterproof the walls of the two story 21,000 square meter (226,000 square foot) underground parking facility. Kryton’s Krystol Waterstop System for joints was used to waterproof 160 m (525 ft.) of joints in the underground areas. The combination of KIM and the Krystol Waterstop System provides complete tanking for the underground areas.
The center is open and features Sunday services, prayer meetings and various meetings for different groups throughout the week and has become a hub for the community in Kuching.
