Krystol Internal Membrane (KIM) was used in the concrete mix of the the 200 cubic meters deck slab on the rooftop car park of the BMW Building in Southbank, Melbourne.
KIM is a cementitious admixture added to the concrete to provide permanent self-sealing waterproofing. KIM uses Kryton’s proprietary crystalline technology to react with water and unhydrated concrete, causing millions of needle-like crystals to form, blocking the penetration of water and corrosive elements. Over time, incoming water causes additional crystals to form, self-sealing small cracks and saving repair and maintenance time and costs.
