Solution

For the prestige and high prices, Coral International is commanding it was imperative that this complex remain leak free. To protect against groundwater ingress and protect the structural integrity of the development Kryton’s Krystol Internal Membrane (KIM) admixture and Krystol Waterstop System for waterproofing joints were used.

By using Kryton’s Krystol Concrete Waterproofing System the developer was able to:
• Save considerable time and money by eliminating the need for external membranes
• Increase the quality and longevity of the concrete through reduced shrinking and cracking in the curing stages
• Protect reinforcing steel by preventing the penetration of waterborne contaminants, sulfates, chlorides and other chemicals that are often present in local ground water.

Approximately 4,100 cubic meters (5,400 cubic yards) of KIM treated concrete was used to waterproof the raft slab and retaining walls of the two basements and the Krystol Waterstop System was used to waterproof the construction joints.

Kryton’s KIM admixture holds a current Technical Approval Certificate from the Dubai Municipality.
