Gibson Square is a two building luxury condo development next to historic Gibson House Museum and park and located in the heart of the North York. Gibson Square features direct access to the North York City Centre subway, a roof top garden, party and games rooms, and a fully outfitted fitness center including a swimming pool, yoga studio and weight room.
Gibson Square’s 42 stories of glass and steel make it the tallest building in North York and its high-end finishing and amenities make it one of the most desirable addresses in the area.
Gibson Square features three levels of below grade parking that butt up next to the property line of the Gibson House Museum. Due to the tight site footprint there would be no room for a trench to accommodate the application of a traditional external membrane.
After construction had already started Kryton was brought on board to waterproof the yet to be poured south wall that bordered the property line of the building next door. Kryton’s Krystol Internal Membrane or KIM concrete waterproofing admixture was selected because it allowed the construction team to build their blind wall by avoiding the costly time and space associated with applying traditional membranes. KIM is added directly to the concrete so it allows the waterproofing and concrete pour to be done in one-step.
The team was so pleased with the ease of use and time savings that using KIM brought to their job that they also used KIM to waterproof the elevator pits and shafts as well.
