Richmond Hospital is a large community hospital located near Vancouver International Airport. Along with providing medical services to Richmond residents, the hospital also attends the needs of travelers using Vancouver International Airport and the B.C. Ferries system.
In the summer of 2004, the 38-year-old hospital was beginning to show its age. The building's exterior was soiled with dirt and grime and the paint was beginning to peel and crack. The hospital was in need of restoration to protect the building's exterior from further damage and deterioration.
After a thorough cleaning of the hospital's exterior, the facility's management selected Kryton's Hydrostop to seal and protect the building.
Hydrostop is a state-of-the-art, water-repellent sealer designed specifically for concrete, brick and masonry. Hydrostop works better and lasts longer than conventional sealers because it contains a unique blend of silane and siloxane compounds that react with silicates below the surface of the substrate. This reaction creates an insoluble barrier beneath the surface that will not wear away, fade, yellow, crack or peel. Because the finished application is virtually invisible, the surface maintains its original appearance and breathability.
After the exterior of the hospital was sealed, Kryton's Pirahna Paint was applied to provide an added layer of protection against the elements. A premium quality exterior acrylic wall coating, Piranha Paint provides a durable flat finish with excellent alkali resistance, adhesion and colour retention. Piranha Paint is weatherproof but still breathes, giving long-lasting protection that resists blistering or peeling due to moisture.
With the exterior restoration complete, Richmond Hospital is ready to provide many more years of service to the community.
