When the owners of this high-end home decided to build a swimming pool on the second floor, unique construction techniques were required. Shotcrete was chosen for design flexibility and ability to maximize the use of available space.
Constructed above luxury living space, it was essential that the suspended pool be watertight and resistant to cracks and leaks. However, space limitations and the use of Shotcrete made the installation of external membranes impossible.
Kryton's Krystol Internal Membrane (KIM) admixture was selected to seal the concrete from inside and is effective against hydrostatic pressure from any direction.
KIM's compatibility with Shotcrete applications eliminates the need for external membranes. KIM in shotcrete creates watertight structures and allows for unique design options and flexibility. In addition, the "Krystol" technology will self-seal any subsequent hairline cracks that may occur years down the road.
