Brunei’s National Development Plan has allocated almost a million USD for the construction of 10,000 low-cost homes. The new Tanah Jambu housing project is one such project.
Shortly after construction, cracks started to develop along a 5 m (16 ft.) high retaining wall and ran several hundred meters in length. Water was observed leaking through the hundreds of small random cracks and the engineers and contractors knew they were up against strong hydrostatic pressure and needed a long-term solution. The project was due for handing over in 14 days and repair work needed to happen immediately and poor performance was not an option.
When they looked at possible solutions, an epoxy injection system and a paint on waterproofing system were suggested but the contractor had bad experiences with both systems in the past. The team decided to go with BUE Enterprise, Kryton’s distributor in Brunei Darussalam to handle this challenging repair job.
Kryton products were selected because of BUE’s successful track record of addressing challenging repairs throughout Brunei. The contractor was especially attracted to the fact that Kryton’s Krystol Crack Repair System would not only fix the cracks but would improve the water resistance of the retaining wall and improve the structure’s overall durability.
BUE’s repair specialist team used Kryton’s Krystol Plug to stop all flowing water and then followed with Krystol Bari-Cote and Krystol T1.
